At Arrow all bed pillows
are renovated by the Pillow-Vac-System. Old ticking is discarded
and replaced with an exclusive new feather proof, down proof
ticking. Feathers are removed from the ticking, sanitized , deodorized
and encased in the new ticking. We can return a customer's old
ticking by special request.
The cleaning process consists of emptying the feathers from the
old ticking into the pillow machine.While in the machine the
feathers are agitated by rotating brushes which fluff the feathers
and allow the dirt and non-feather particles to settle to the
bottom of the machine. Ozone lights deodorize the feathers as
they are fluffed. After cleaning, the feathers are blown into
a new pillow ticking. All pillows are returned in a plastic sealed
bag.
Many soiled pillows contain up to a pound of dust and other foreign
materials. After sanitizing, these are removed. If additional
feathers are required to properly fill out the pillow, we will
furnish replacement feathers. About 3 lbs. of good feathers are
required for one regular pillow.

A recent poll (March 2004)
by the Roper Organization showed that nearly one-third of Americans
fail to replace their bed pillows sooner than every three years.
The "average" American has a pillow that is more than
two years old and has been washed, cleaned or sanitized less
than once a month. People aged 35-49 are the age grouping most
likely to wait more than a month to care for their pillow.
To be fair, the poll was sponsored
by a company that makes pillows. But think about this: your face
and neck spend a considerable amount of time with your pillow.
Of course your skin sheds - but you also sneeze, cough, drool,
push, pull, twist, thump, allow the cat to sleep on - and otherwise
mistreat your pillow (don't try to deny it - we are guilty -
all of us!).

machines. The pillows are tumbled dry in a three-step process,
achieving maximum loft to the down. Depending on your comfort
preference, Arrow can add new goose down or remove existing down
to achieve the best outcome for your pillows. As an added service,
you may order new pillow shells, sewn from high thread count,
silky-smooth cotton, the same high quality fabric as used in
original manufacturing.
